WILL EVANS’ daily preview serves up Wimbledon tips for third seed Ons Jabeur’s quarter-final against Czech bolter Marie Bouzkova.

History: First meeting
Final Thoughts: Ons Jabeur is the only top-15 seed to make it the women’s quarter-finals and is equal-favourite for the title alongside 2019 champ Simona Halep.
Everything points to this Wimbledon campaign being the 27-year-old Tunisian’s breakthrough major, building on previous quarter-final appearances at the 2020 Australian Open and Wimbledon last year.
World No.2 Jabeur won the German Open last month and has won all four matches at Wimbledon ins straight sets. She saw off the danger of in-form Diane Parry 6-2 6-3 in the third round and grafted out a gritty 7-6 6-4 win over 24th seed Elise Mertens on Sunday.
Jabeur saved four set points in the first set against the wily Mertens – and it was perhaps the tough test she needed heading into the second week of the tournament.
Marie Bouzkova, meanwhile, is also in the midst of a watershed grand slam run. The 23-year-old had not made it past the second round in 13 previous majors and was bounced in the first round of the Eastbourne International in her only Wimbledon lead-in match.
But world No.66 Bouzkova has been in blistering form over the past week. She rolled seventh seed Danielle Collins after dropping the first set, blitzed Ann Li (6-0 6-3) and 26th seed Alison Riske (6-2 6-3), before comfortably accounting for veteran Caroline Garcia (7-5 6-2).
Jabeur is a relentless competitor with tremendous variety in her game, which should be enough to eventually overcome Bouzkova’s impressive court coverage and poise.
