Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews the race meeting this afternoon at Kembla, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 selected races. Good luck, punters!
Interesting race here. The two I like the most are the pair from the Mark Newnham stable. Now, which one do we choose? The best form going into the race is carried by RUSSIAN STANDARD who has twice placed at this level, has placed at this track and can handle heavy conditions having placed while in the mud. The filly, SAID HANRAHAN, on the other hand, has raced just once for an unplaced effort this level at Newcastle. But… she has great trial form and carries the stable’s rider, Tom Sherry. She clearly has room for improvement and has drawn the fence too. If the track isn’t terribly off, and in race 1 probably won’t be, she may be the play I think. Quinella them up.
Tip: SAID HANRAHAN @ $10
Here’s a fascinating race. Couple of good trailers show up here including YGGDRASIL and POETIC DRAMA. The former was 3rd in a recent trial and didn’t try one inch. Just jumped out sat behind the tempo and stretched her legs over the last 200m, looking to do it very easily. She’s a 4YO now and should be ready to show she has above average talent. Chris Waller trains her. Team Hawkes train the other one. She’s a 3YO filly and she chased a really slick one home in a trial when 2nd. I suggest both will clear out from the others here and fight this one out. Quinella them also. STALKING has been heavily backed but the wet track may worry her.
Tip: YGGDRASIL @ $11
I suspect history will reveal that this is a very strong Cl 1. And the winner for mine will be SUMMERBEEL who will make a case for a shot at the Gr 1 Oaks in a few weeks. She is very smart, has speed and keeps going. Up in class here from her last start maiden win but looks up to it. Big show.
Tip: SUMMERBEEL @ $4.20
