Horse Racing Tips – Monday 21st March

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews the race meeting this afternoon at Taree with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 selected races. Good luck, punters!

Interesting race here. I think if the money which started to come in for PRESS FREEDOM last night, continues to flow in on its merry way, then he may be the one to back. FIGHTING MAGNUS, who has placed 3 of his past 4 starts all in this company, opened at $1.50 fav but by 8am this morning he was $1.80 because Press Freedom, whose form is not as good, has firmed from $9.50 opening quote to $7.00. Now, that’s not significant. It is noteworthy, but if he continues to tighten, you need to seriously look at Press Freedom. His two major failures in recent weeks have been on heavy tracks. Sun is out today, it will probably be a soft 6 by his race and he might just be worth having a few bob on. Quinella them at least.

Here’s a fun race. I do believe CAPRI LANE can lead throughout here. Last start he was up against 5 of his rivals here and he led them all, going at a gut-busting breakneck pace from the get go. It was 1500m and he wilted in the last 100m. He ran 5th, with only FLYING MOJO and ACOUSTIX getting past him and they did in the last 50m. Now, yes it’s further here but the mid-race pressure will be nowhere near as intense meaning he will have more in the locker when they turn for home. Plus, he meets them all better at the weights and gets a 5kg turn-around from Flying Mojo. So, mapping this race, I have Capril Lane on top from Flying Mojo and Acoustix.  They do look the quinella so box them all up.

I’m on the honest mare here BAIYKA. She is 3rd up in her grade here and is weighted to win. Does like to get back but the small field should help off-set that. Can’t believe JAZZLES is the fav as she is pretty weak and drawn the outside.  Respect all that.
