T: Tony Pike /J: James Orman (57kg)
Good NZ stayer who goes well on wet tracks too. Is 3rd up into this but it must be said, he only plugged home when well beaten 7th to Dark Destroyer last start in lead up race. Place.
T: Lance O’Sullivan & Andrew Scott / J: Sam Weatherley (57kg)
Good tough stayer who does look one of the hardest to beat. After running home very strongly from a mile back to claim 2nd in the Gr 2 Qld Guineas over a mile, stepped up on a heavy track to 2143m last start in the major lead up race the Rough Habit and finished too strongly to win from Paternal. Big danger.
T: Chris Waller /J: James McDonald (57kg)
Restricted class Sydney 3YO who can stay. Loomed to win a BM 78 over 2200m on a heavy last start but wilted final 50m when 2nd. This is harder and place hopes appear best.
T: Stuart Kendrick /J: Nash Rawiller (57kg)
Is more than handy and will be in this for some time. Ridden up on speed when a battling 3rd to Dark Destroyer last start in the 2143m Rough Habit. Distance may be an issue but is honest.
T: Roger James & Robert wellness / J: Leith Innes (57kg)
Kiwi stayer and has class. Lightly raced but is fit and can stay. Last start won a Gr 2 over 2100m easily, that run followed a solid 5th in strong Gr 1 NZ Derby this trip. Big show. Will be running on.
T: Team Sears / J: Kyle Wilson-Taylor (57kg)
Interesting galloper. Runs a lot of placings and has staying talent but doubts exist as to whether he can stay at this level. Ran 3rd in a BM 70 last start.
T: Chris Munce / J: Larry Cassidy (57kg)
Is capable, is local and can handle the mud. Is also very fit and last start’s strong 4th to Dark Destroyer at Gr 3 level, was a really solid effort. Place.
T: Rex lip & Nick Hahn / J: Brad Stewart (57kg)
Smart enough when right but concerns around last start’s poor 8th. It may well have been because of the very heavy track but just didn’t run on at all behind Dark Destroyer. Is capable though.
T: Bjorn Baker/ J: Rachel King (57kg)
Can run all day and will be suited here. Was beaten 10 lengths in the Gr 1 ATC Derby but it was a stunning effort and this is easier. Beaten in the mud last start at Rosehill when 3rd over 2000m but this suits a lot more. Very hard to beat.
T: Kris Lees / J: Andrew Mallyon (57kg)
Carried 2kg more than Sea Treasures at Rosehill last week and beat him home. But the extra 400m is a little worry here. Still, this bloke is getting better every run and has claims.
T: John Sargent /J: Jim Byrne (57kg)
Is very hit and miss. Stormed home from a mile back to win midweek mile race here then last start beaten 22 lengths in the mud by Dark Destroyer. Not keen.
T: Chris Waller/ J: Hugh Bowman (57kg)
Good tough stayer who looms as the dark horse. Gets back but does have a very powerful finish. Came from 12th on bend to run Dark Destroyer to a nose last start in the Rough Habit. This trip suits a lot.
T: Ed Cummings/J: Josh Parr (57kg)
Isn’t terribly gifted and although he has run the odd place here and there will struggle with this distance at this level.
T: Brad Widdup /J: Kerrin McEvoy (57kg)
Front runner who likes it wet too and has revelled in those very conditions of late winning 3 of past 4 starts – BUT in much weaker grade. this trip will find him out.
T: Michael Costa/ J: Ben Thompson (57kg)
has talent. Won his first 3 starts all in weaker grade but all in the wet. Sat back and rushed home each time. Stepped up to Gr 3 company last start and ran on Ok when 5th to Dark Destroyer. Place hope. Will be running on.
T: Matt Smith/ J: Ryan Maloney (57kg)
Interesting galloper. is handy and runs on speed. Up in class here on recent starts but those starts have been very solid. Can stay all day too and will be in this for some time.
T: Chris Waller / J: Sam Collett (57kg)
Can stay and will be plugging on. Was 6th in the NZ Derby this trip and failed to run a place twice since in weaker races.
T: Chris Waller / J: Brenton Avdulla (57kg)
Shandy stayer in the making but won just once from 8 starts and recent efforts have been ordinary. So later.
