Horse Racing Tips – Group 1 Moir Stakes

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Moonee Valley Moir Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps – he has included the potential for rain in his thoughts. Good luck, punters!

1. THE INFERNO (8) 120x8730x4

T: Cliff Brown /J: Blake Shinn (58.5kg)

Ran a terrific race when resuming last start to grab 4th in this grade. On his day he gets back and just motors over these late. Hasn’t won for a while though but should be running on.

2. PAULELE (6) 10x103322x

T: -James Cummings – J: James McDonald (58.5kg)

Is dynamic first up and resumes here. All class on his day and looks the one to beat if he fronts up and runs his usual fresh race.

3. ROTHFIRE (5) x47x5543x1

T: Rob Heathcote / J: Damian Lane (58.5kg)

Probably eases and sits a length off the speed. If so and he is in the same frame of mind he showed last start when resuming from injury, he will win. Has enormous talent when he is right. Drawn to receive a glorious run.

4. ZOUSTYLE (9) 1x115x39x2

T: Tony Gollan/ J: Damien Oliver (58.5kg)

Is the forgotten star here. Queensland speedster who led a very smilier race and was run down late by Rothfire. Was resuming that day. Fitter now and from this alley will have to charge early. Take catching.

5. MALKOVICH (3) 2x541020x5

T: Chris Waller / J: Rachel King (56.5kg)

Smart galloper from Sydney who may run a huge race. Did that when resuming last start when taking on Eduardo in Sydney. Led him and ran home gamely for a good 5th. Should be in the firing line all the way.

6. GENERATION (2) 331x1240x2

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Mark Zahra (58.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Is fast enough to be in the firing line from this gate all the way. Beautifully bred son of Snitzel so needs a Gr 1 win to ensure he gets a career at stud. On pace when beaten a nose in the Gr 3 Heath over 1100m last start. Big chance.

7. EXTREMELY LUCKY (12) 1x251x13

T: Will Clarken / J: Ben Melham (58.5kg)

This is his acid test. Is an emerging star from Sth Australia. After winning a pair of handicap sprints came to Melb for a stakes race and was a gallant 3rd to Bella Nipotina on a heavy track. Bad draw is a worry but will ease back and come hard late.

8. SEPTEMBER RUN (7) 7664x3135x

T:  Chris Waller/ J: Kerrin McEvoy (56.5kg)

Gr 1 winner with loads of talent. Won the Gr 1 William Reid here and does run her best this track. Resumes here and has won first up in the past. Placed in a recent trial. Expect a great showing.

9. BELLA NIPOTINA (11) 23x58155x1

T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace  / J: Craig Williams(56.5kg)

Has always been a very strong competitor at this level but her win, albeit narrowly, when resuming last start beating Mileva at stakes level suggests she may be back better than ever. Wont contest the lead early instead sitting back midfield and can really run home hard. Has won here.

10. ISOTOPE (4) 2x1x0794x6

T: Tony Gollan /J: Jye McNeil (56.5kg)

Quality type. Classy mare from Qld who is 2nd up here after a fair run into 6th at Caulfield. Has a great 2nd up record and can run well against this level when right. Watch betting.

11. MILEVA (10) x13147x162

T: Phillip Stokes /J: Dan Moor (56.5kg)

Goes very well on a damp track and last start was ridden differently being sent forward and was grabbed on the line by Bella Nipotina. Should strip fitter but there is a great deal of speed here.

12. COOLANGATTA (1)1x11x3x3

T: Ciaran Maher & David Eustace / J: Jamie Kah (50kg)

This is a good racehorse. Is the baby of the field but is a supreme galloper who off this draw probably sits just behind the speed then goes home too hard for most. Was on pace this level when resuming last start and 3rd to Rothfire. Much fitter now.
