Horse Racing Tips – Group 1 Blue Diamond Stakes

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Caulfield Blue Diamond Stakes with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. SEMILLION  (16) 1×2

T: Team Hawkes /J:Damien Oliver (57kg)

Led all the way on debut to easily win at The Valley over 1000m in Inglis Listed. Then dashed to lead but was run down late by Lofty Strike two weeks ago. May have needed the run but the winner beat him on his merits. Place show.

2. LOFTY STRIKE (13) 11

T: Julius Sandhu / J: Jamie Mott (57kg)

Already a valuable stallion prospect being by Snitzel and winning first two starts most impressively, including the major lead-up race the Blue Diamond Prelude over 1100n. Came with a wet sail that day and gives the impression this journey will suit. Big danger and should slot in too.

3. DAUMIER  (5) 13

T: Team Freedman / J: Mark Zahra (57kg)

After impressing with a game debut win in a lead-up race beating Rampant Lion, he backed it up with a strong 3rd after being near lead all the way behind Lofty Strike. Has obvious talent but may be pratted wide here from this draw.

4. SEBONACK (8) 1

T: Team Hawkes / J:  Jye McNeil (57kg)

One huge question will be answered by race’s end: how good is this bloke? He won in spectacular fashion on debut at Caulfield over 1000m then did not contest the Blue Diamond lead-up races. In a very astute stable. If there is money for him have something on him.

T: Ciaran maher & David Eustace / J: Ben Allen (57kg)

Deserves a crack at this following his impressive debut win at The Valley this trip when on speed all the wy the a strong 4th after a tough run behind Lofty Strike in the lead-up. Super fit no and drawn to get a nice run.

6. JACQUINOT (10) 15

T: Mick Price & Mick Kent / J: Damian Lane (57kg)

Interesting galloper. Finished like a train to win on debut this trip here. That reads very well, then got back along the rails and ran on usefully when 5th to Lofty Strike here beaten 2 lengths. Has talent and if he finds clear space he can rattle home late.

7. RAMPANT LION (6) 3×2

T: Peter Moody / J: Kerrin McEvoy (57kg)

Wonderfully bred colt who will be worth a king’s ransom should he win this. And he might go close. Raced twice for two placings thus far, latest when 2nd to Daumier in Preview over 1000m. Bound to get a cozy run in about 4th to the bend and will be whacking away at the end. Big chance.

T: Peter Moody / J: Luke Nolen (57kg)

Ran fast time to win at Pakenham this trip in a maiden then runner-up at Sandown over 1300m. This is a step up and may find it hard.

T: Annabel Neasham / J: Brodie Loy (57kg)

Sydney trained colt who is already stakes placed but he may find this hard. Well beaten on a wet track last start. Still a maiden after 3 runs.

10. HAFEY (14) 1

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace /J: Craig Williams (57kg)

Hard to line him up here. Valuable colt if he wins this and only start to date easily won his Bendigo maiden over 1100m looking very smart. But drawn off the track and rising massively in class here. Place.

T: Team Snowden /J: Jamie Kah (55kg)

Outstanding galloper who must be one of the hardest to beat. Went into the fillies’ Prelude as a maiden and came away with a solid, impressive come-from-a-mile-back win in faster time than Lofty Strike and gets a 2kg allowance from him. Must run faster now too as she is experienced at this track. Looks the winner.

12. MISS ROSEIANO (9) 12

T: Peter Gelagotis / J: Jordan Childs (55kg)

Top notch 2YO with enough talent to trouble these. Led all the way over 1000m to win the Review then tried similar tactic when run down late by Revolutionary Miss in the Prelude. Should go forward and if she gets one off will be punching away late.

13. KIKI EXPRESS (3) 157

T: Mathew Ellerton / J: Damian Thornton (55kg)

Has won here in a stakes race and has talent. But was handily beaten when resuming and 7th to Revolutionary Miss in the lead-up race. Did wilt late and it was 1100m.

T: Team McEvoy / J: John Allen (55kg)

Interesting galloper. Still a maiden after two runs but she has a lot of speed and may well be the leader here. Was in front as they turned when run down by Revolutionary Miss finishing 3rd in the Prelude. Last 100m will test but has talent.

15. WALTZ ON BY (1) 42

T: Peter Moody / J: Blaike McDougall (55kg)

Maiden after two starts and on the quick back-up from her game 2nd over 1100m last week in the Listed Talindert Stakes. Was run down late that day. Great draw but class late will test.

16. SEVEN SISTERS (15) 214

T: James Cummings / J: Fred Kersley  (55kg)

Will need to be a superstar from this alley but I suspect she is extremely good. May have to drop out and come late which actually could be a blessing in disguise as there will be enormous speed early here. Have something the place on her at huge odds.

Tips: 1. REVOLUTIONARY MISS,  2. Lofty Strike, 3. Sebonack, 4. Seven Sisters
