T: Ciaran maher & David Eustace /J: John Allen (57kg)
Is one of the best and potentially THE best 3YO in the land. Won the Gr 1 Derby at his last start. Resumes here and if he is even 3/4-fit he can win this.
T: Team Snowden / J: Jamie Kah (57kg)
Very talented and will run home hard. Is always competitive at this level. Very fit now that he’s 3rd up and his 3rd placing last start against these was very encouraging.
T: Richard Litt / J: Robbie Dolan (57kg)
Superstar in the making., Already a Gr 1 winner after just 3 starts and the boom on him is massive. Bad draw will test and going this way for the first time will also. But superstars overcome everything to win. He can.
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: Mark Zahra (57kg)
Scratched from Randwick Gr 1 for this and he has enormous talent. Bound to get back but will appreciate this trip just 2nd up. Certain to be flying home.
T: James Cummings/ J: Damien Oliver (57kg)
On target to win the Gr 1 Derby in a month’s time and can place here. Gets back, finishes hard and is getting fitter by the day. Was runner-up in the VRC Derby last year. Have in your numbers.
6. COASTWATCH (18) 0x521324x1
T: Chris Waller / J:- (57kg)
T: Peter Moody / J: Luke Nolen (57kg)
Outstanding colt on his day but he mixes his form. Is 3rd up here after a mixed bag off efforts. Can rattle home when his mind is on the job.
T: Chris Waller / J: Craig Williams (57kg)
Another engaged in both Guineas races here and Sydney. The mile is his biggest hurdle. If he gets it strongly, he’s a big player here. But doubts exist about that happening.
T: Enver Jusufovic/ J: Michael Dee (57kg)
Just ho0w good is this bloke? Unbeaten in 3 starts to date and just keeps jumping whatever bar is placed in front of him. Knows where the post is and what’s required of him. First stakes win last start when coming home hard. Hardest test to date but his will-to-win is amazing.
T: Team Browne /J: Jamie Mott (57kg)
New Zealand colt who is 3rd up here. Has talent and has won at this trip but was roundly and comfortably beaten by Pinstriped last start so looks tested.
T: Chris Waller /J: Jordie Childs (57kg)
Is pretty talented and won at Flemington when coming from near last in 1800m stakes race then last start not far off the pace all the way when close-up 7th to Coastwatch. Can run on but place hopes appears best.
T: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou / J: Beau Mertens (57kg)
Pretty smart but. Not certain 1600m will suit at this level. Can get back like last start when fast finishing 4th to Coastwatch ever 1400m. This is a few lengths stronger though.
T: Bjorn Baker / J: -Ben Allen (57kg)
Broke through for maiden win last start and it came three starts after failing in a Gr 1 this trip. Did win well but the race was much weaker.
T: David Payne / J: Craig Newitt (57kg)
Likes to go hard from the gate and will have to from this barrier. And that will be the ned of him as he will get run over late.
T: Gary Portelli / J: Damien Lane (57kg)
This is a pretty handy customer. only raced three times for a pair of wins and a courageous 2nd, beaten half a length by Pinstripe in the 1400m Gr 3 last start. First go at gr 1 here and first look at 1600m so that all may be too much for him. But he does have talent.
T: Bjorn Baker /J: Brett Prebble (55kg)
Smart filly and is a Gr 2 winner over 1400m. But two starts this time up have been unplaced efforts and this will test.
T: Chris Waller /J: Josh Parr (57kg)
Sydney colt with loads of talent but he has been about 3 lengths behind the very best ones at a few clashes and probably is again here. Is fit though and can run on.
T: Gerald Ryan & Sterling Alexiou / J: Tom Stockdale (57kg)
Handy type who probably gets this trip but the grade will test him. Mind you, he has won two lower key races.
