WILL EVANS’ daily preview serves up Wimbledon tips for a second-round showdown between Nick Kyrgios and Filip Krajinovic.

History: Played 3: Kyrgios 3 V Krajinovic 0
Last meeting: Estoril Open, 2015 (R16): Kyrgios d Krajinovic 6-3 6-3
Final Thoughts: Nick Kyrgios made hard work of his first-round assignment in a typically controversially outing and will need to lift against 26th seed Filip Krajinovic.
Incidents with a spectator and a line umpire punctuated a five-set grind against 219th-ranked Paul Jubb on Monday. Kyrgios dropped the first set before finally getting the job done 3-6 6-1 7-5 6-7 7-5.
Kyrgios fired down 30 aces and was broken only twice but struggled to quash the plucky Brit’s challenge.
The 26-year-old will be looking to channel the form that took him into the semi-finals at the Stuttgart Open and Halle Open earlier this month as he vies to reach the third round at Wimbledon for the sixth time in eight visits.
Serbian Krajinovic is anything but a grass-court specialist, but he arrived at Wimbledon on the back of a run to the Queen’s Club Championships final. The 30-year-old upset Marin Cilic in the semis before pushing 2021 Wimbledon runner-up Matteo Berrettini hard in the decider.
Kranjinoviic had a similarly sticky first-round experience at the All England Club, however. He was taken to five sets by world No.72 Jiri Lehecka before closing out a marathon encounter 5-7 6-4 6-7 7-6 6-4.
A player of Kyrgios’ enigmatic qualities looks far too short at $1.27 against a top-30 seed. But the tempestuous one is the superior grass-court player and his recent form suggests he will find a way through – if he keeps his emotions in check.
