History: Played 174: Mavericks 90 V Warriors 84

Last meeting: February 27, 2022: Mavericks 107 d Warriors 101 at Chase Center

Final Thoughts: Fifth-placed Dallas Mavericks are chasing their third straight win and are $1.80 at home to a second-placed Golden State Warriors outfit looking to avoid a third consecutive defeat. It’s the teams’ second showdown in five days.

The Mavs have won eight of their last 10 against the Warriors. They lead the 2021-22 season ledger 2-1. Luka Doncic (26 pts, 7 reb, 8 ast) spearheaded a 99-82 home win in early-January as the Warriors were held to a season-low tally, with Steph Curry posting just 17 points. The Warriors responded with a 130-92 blowout victory in San Francisco three weeks later with seven players scoring in double figures.

But Doncic (34 pts, 11 reb) prevailed in his duel with Curry (27 pts, 10 ast) on Monday (AEDT), Dallas rallying from 21 points down in the third quarter. Spencer Dinwiddie had 24 points off the bench for the Mavs, while Andrew Wiggins contributed 18 points for the Warriors.

Mavs move on top four

The 37-25 Mavericks made it eight wins from 10 games with a 109-104 defeat of the beleaguered Lakers in LA on Wednesday (AEDT). They blew a big lead in the third quarter before rallying to win, led again by Luka (25 pts, 8 reb, 5 ast). Jalen Brunson (22 pts, 4-of-6 3PM) also played a key role.

Meanwhile, the 43-19 Warriors sunk to their sixth loss in eight games with a 129-114 defeat to the Timberwolves two days ago. Curry carried the team with 34 points but lacked support with Klay Thompson missing a second straight game. Draymond Green’s absence has been especially telling in recent weeks and they are a modest 15-13 now without their defensive stud.

Thompson is a chance of returning today but is on a minutes restriction as he works his way back from a long-term Achilles injury.

The Mavericks are 20-11 at home this season (16-14-1 ATS), winning four of their last five in Dallas. The Warriors are 17-12 on the road (13-14-2 ATS) but have lost three of their last four away games.

Golden State’s NBA-leading defence has been flat and Curry is being left to do too much heavy lifting offensively. Dallas’ defence has been strong and Doncic is taking care of the rest – which he should be able to do again at home.
