History: Played 131: Mavericks 78 V Timberwolves 53

Last meeting: March 21, 2022: Mavericks 110 d Timberwolves 108 at American Airlines Arena

Final Thoughts: The squeeze for NBA Playoffs positions is well and truly on. Minnesota Timberwolves are attempting to climb back out of the play-in tournament zone after making a brief top-six appearance, while Dallas Mavericks are in the frame for a top-four finish but could still drop into the dreaded 7th-10th range.

These Western Conference rivals are squaring off for the second time in five days.  The Mavericks are ahead 2-1 in the season count. The T-Wolves prevailed 111-105 at home in December but the Mavs responded with a 114-102 victory in Dallas two days later. The Mavs took out a tight one on Tuesday (AEDT) 110-108.

Reggie Bullock (18 pts, 7 reb) drained six three-pointers in his return from a four-game absence – including a clutch shot that helped the hosts hold on for a tense win. Luka Doncic was held to just 15 points but dished up 10 assists. Dwight Powell (22 pts, 8 reb) top-scored for the Mavs and Spencer Dinwiddie (20 pts, 8 reb) starred off the bench. Karl-Anthony Towns (22 pts, 8 reb), Anthony Edwards (19 pts, 6 reb) and D’Angelo Russell (18 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast) were among Minnesota’s best.

The Timberwolves had won 10 of their previous 11 games. But amid a tough late-March schedule, they slipped to a 42-32 record with a 125-116 loss to the NBA-leading Suns on Thursday (AEDT) – after leading by 13 at halftime.

The 45-28 Mavericks made it 10 wins from their past 13 games with a 110-91 defeat of the Rockets on Thursday (AEDT). With Doncic (ankle) sitting it out, Jalen Brunson and Dinwiddie combined for 54 points.

The Timberwolves are 24-13 at home (20-15-2 ATS), winning six of their last seven at Target Center. The Mavs are 20-16 on the road (21-15 ATS) but have lost their last two away from Dallas.

With Doncic set to play and the Mavs bringing superior momentum and the psychological edge of their win over the T-Wolves earlier this week, the visitors look a strong option value-wise as the underdog.
