Final Thoughts: After grabbing the biggest upset of the respective Game 1 fixtures, Minnesota Timberwolves are aiming for another road win over Memphis Grizzlies before the series heads to Minneapolis.

The fast-starting Timberwolves powered to a 130-117 victory in the opener. Anthony Edwards (36 pts, 6 ast) top-scored, Karl-Anthony Towns (29 pts, 13 reb) was a beast and Malik Beasley put up 23 points off the bench.

Playing just his third game in the past month, Grizzlies spearhead Ja Morant had 32 points and 8 assists, while Dillon Brooks contributed 24 points. But the Grizzlies went just 7-for-27 from three-point range – well behind the T-Wolves’ 16-for-41 – and were outrebounded 46-35.

The seventh-seeded Timberwolves have a nice roll going, chalking up some solid wins late in the regular season before holding off LA Clippers in the play-in tournament. The Grizzlies – who wrapped up the second seed well ahead of the end of the regular season – have now lost four of their last five.

The Grizzlies are 30-12 at home this season – and an NBA-best 27-15 ATS. The Timberwolves are 21-21 on the road (22-20 ATS).

Memphis are $1.34 favourites to square up the series. But Minnesota’s big three of KAT, Edwards and D’Angelo Russell match up well with their Grizzlies counterparts; they look good value to cover, if not go 2-0 up.

Best Bet: Handicap – Timberwolves +7.5 @ $1.80
