Final Thoughts: Denver Nuggets got off the mark in Game 4 of their First Round series against Golden State Warriors, but they are still in sudden-death territory as the teams return to San Francisco.

The third-seeded Warriors raced to a 3-0 lead with emphatic wins at home, 123-107 and 126-106, and a hard-fought victory in Game 3 in Denver, 118-113. With Jordan Poole and Klay Thompson starting and Steph Curry coming off the bench, the Nuggets struggled to combat the Warriors’ backcourt firepower and shooting accuracy. Emerging as a genuine star in his own right, Poole averaged 28.7 points across the first three games.

Staring down the barrel of a cleansweep exit, the Nuggets responded with a 126-121 victory in Game 4. Nikola Jokic – relatively well-contained in the opening two games – scored 37 points for the second game in a row. Monte Morris’ 24 points included 5-of-7 3PM, and Aaron Gordon chipped in with 21 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists.

Again starting from the bench, Curry tops-scored with 33 points and had 8 assists. Klay Thopmson went 7-of-11 from three-point range among his 32 points, but the rest of the team were just 5-of-23 from outside the arc.

No team has ever recovered from a 3-0 deficit to win a playoffs series. But the Nuggets boast the unique distinction of fighting back from 3-1 down to win back-to-back series and head back the Bay with renewed confidence.

The Warriors are resounding $1.22 favourites to finish it off in Game 5 – and they should get it done. But the Nuggets are 10-3 ATS in their last 13 away games. If they’re to go down, they’ll go down swinging and look a strong option to cover.
