Final Thoughts: Denver Nuggets are desperate to get off the mark in their First Round series against Golden State after suffering heavy defeats in the opening two San Francisco-hosted games.
Jordan Poole (30 pts) led the third-seeded Warriors to a 123-107 victory in Game 1. Poole and Klay Thompson (19 pts) both hit five three-pointers. Steph Curry, returning from injury off the bench, scoring 16 points in 21 minutes. Nikola Jokic (25 pts, 10 reb, 6 ast, 3 stl) and Will Barton (24 pts, 6 reb, 5 ast) were rare shining lights for the Nuggets.
The Warriors powered to a 126-106 win in Game 2, with Curry top-scoring despite again starting on the bench, racking up 34 points in just 22 minutes. Poole (29 pts, 8 ast) was again prominent, while Thompson chipped in with 21 points.
MVP favourite Jokic (26 pts, 11 reb) played a lone hand for the Nuggets and was relatively well-contained.
The Warriors are shooting at 53.6 percent from the floor so far in the series. They are well over 40 percent from three-point range.
Denver are a modest 23-18 at home this season (15-26 ATS) and have won only three of their last 10 at Ball Arena. Golden State are only 22-19 on the road (18-21-2 ATS) but won their last three away games of the regular season.
The Nuggets need role players like Barton and Aaron Gordon to lift and support the ever-productive Jokic. The Warriors look very hard to beat with three genuine sharpshooters in the backcourt and Draymond Green barely needing to get out of second gear as yet. They might find the going a bit tougher in Mile High City but nevertheless shape as a value bet in Game 3 as only a slight favourite.
