Horse Racing Tips – Tuesday 3rd May

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s Cowra and Kembla meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!

Track: Heavy 8

Lots of intrigue in this Class 1 & maiden race. on recent form VANILLA SKY should go to the lead, control the tempo and simply be too strong down the running. She has won on a heavy track before but look past that and just use her last start 5th in a BM 65 when beaten 2 lengths by Mookareena at Canberra as a form line reference. None of her rivals could finish that close. Anyway, sooo sooo often these who are thrown in and start evens get run over late and that may happen but I’m betting it won’t today. ALLOWAY can run 2nd.

Tip: VANILLA SKY

This is an interesting contest. I’ve watched this Tulloch Lodge juvenile VINNIE’S SPIRIT trial and he looks fast and strong enough to claim this first-up. A few unknown variables as most of his opponents have yet to race and on a heavy track who knows what happen? But he won a recent trial in the mud and one thing we do know is that Gai and Adrian-trained horses are tough even when resuming. Probably;y is the main speed here and if so he gets first look at the better ground when they turn for home. Should hang on from NORTHUMBRIA who has disappointed in two starts thus far but resumes here and is expected to run boldly.

I like the look of PETAIN in this one. The old boy hasn’t won for a while but he does like it heavy and he gets that this afternoon. Is weighted to win and I suspect from this perfect draw he sits back about 4th on the fence then angles between them as they turn and look for fast lanes. He has been up a long while so is very fit and should dash home over the top of them.
