Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s Armidale meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Soft 7
Rail Position: true all way
It does seem like KNIFE’S EDGE is a bit of a non-winner having already raced 17 times for just a solo maiden win and 7 placings. But he is consistent and is always thereabouts at the end. I think, at his 4th run this time up, that he finds a real winnable race here. His form isn’t all that bad leading into this including last start when he ran on over 1700m in the mud to grab 3rd behind Vancouver Khan who had won its previous start and his next start was a game 4th at provincial level. So that form stacks up for a weak race like this. I see Knife’s Edge slotting in about 6th one off the fence and finishing too hard for LAN KAWI FONG. That’s my quinella.
Tip: KNIFE’S EDGE
When a horse sits in behind the pace all the way then produces a strong gallop for about 200m when in the clear, that’s a horse I like to get on next start. TONQUANI, a former Godolphin runner who is now with the astute Tony Newing stable, did that last start when 6th at this level. If she finishes just over a length closer she grabs 2nd spot and she’d be a $4.80 chance today. This race is 300m further and she is much fitter. She was $14 at 8:00am this morning and I suspect money will come for her. Certainly have METAL BAR in there for a duet or a quinella bet.
I really like the look of this mare STRELITZIA. She is such a trier. Gets back then just powers home every start. Up in grade here to a Cl 2 for the first time but she won a Cl 1 last start brilliantly over this trip after being near last on the bend. She is so honest. TRAVOLI is my quinella bet.
