Horse Racing Tips – Thursday 14th July

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s big Grafton  meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!

Track: Soft 6

I do like the look of this contest. Many chances. I like the Murwillumbah trained filly AQUARIUS. She’s by Headwater and with all the rain that has been around, surely that’s an omen. But more than that, she comes here with 3 runs to her name, the best of them last start when carrying 59kg over 1100m and after being heavily backed, made ground late for 2nd. That was this exact level. Is fitter and should be faster now.

I couldn’t find any fault with the way DURNSTEIN controlled his race last start when resuming and just belted away late to win easily. Is fitter now but is racing a much stronger bunch which includes FASHION LEGEND who was 4th on debut – in the city. He should derive benefit from that and be hard to hold out. There are 5 last start winners here and this is a very tough contest. But off the nice gate of 1, Durnstein can rail through and be with the pace all the way.  Quinella them.

Well they should get along here and that will make it a true test of staying talent. Which just means that YOUTH SPIRIT looks mightily well in here. You may not know much about him – like the fact he is from England and is Group placed. He also ran 8th in the Gr 1 English Derby, and 5th in the Gr 1 St Leger at Doncaster over 2922m. So he can stay at a high level. In Australia he has raced just the once when a solid 4th in the McKell Cup over 2000m. They ran it along at pace that day. He strips fitter now, looks to appreciate the trip and looms large from BERDIBEK who is consistent.
