Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN previews Saturday’s Randwick , with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 9
Rail Position: True entire circuit
Quick back up for SHELBY SIXTYSIX following outstanding effort last start when beaten a nostril after hitting the front. Must be in the finish here too.
New trainer Cody Morgan seems to have found the key to GIFTGIVER. Since joining his barn the horse has won a Cl 1 at Gunnedah leading all the way and a trial. Has claims here.
BRAZEN IMPACT is in this up to his ear lobes. Stablemate of Shelby SixtySix and has won past two down south impressively. This is harder but he looks to have gears and can finish.
Tip: SHELBY SIXTYSIX
What a race. There doesn’t seem anything in this race capable of eye-balling DELEXO in this race meaning it gets a glorious run in front. That should be enough to see him race away and score. Toughest test to to date but is very strong.
INVINCIBLE KISS is as game as and she sat behind Delexo last start and gunned him down late over 1000m. Meets him 2kg worse for that win but does get an extra 100m to run past him here.
MAYROSE is honest but is up in grade here. Gets back and runs on. Is on home track which suits and has wet track form.
TROACH ground home a good winner in weaker grade last start but it was the grinding home part that appeals. On a wet track that’s essential.
XTRAVAGANT STAR showed she was the real deal last start when winning a million dollar race. That made it two from two and has drawn inside the star filly so will keep her honest all the way.
LADY LAGUNA was a gutsy 2nd to the very smart Cypher, beaten a head, when resuming last start. Had brilliantly won previous two. Respect her. Is ready to rumble.
Tip: XTRAVAGANT STAR
Really think this EL PADRINO is the real deal and as such can bounce back from his unplaced effort last start. looked flat and in need o that run. In this he settles about 6th with cover and should rattle home.
SANDPAPER for Godolphin has a terrific gate, a great rider in Hughie and the form to test this mob. After winning on debut ran a cracking 2nd to Mumbai Jewel and wins in another two hopes. Gets back, runs on and 1200m will suit.
MAN IN THE MIRROR won own debut and looks very classy. Form around that win is good and will be a major player here too.
Anybody who saw ALLIGATOR BLOOD’s trial the other day would suspect he’s back to his best and his best wins this rather comfortably. But big weight, first-up very, very heavy track may shorten him up. If he starts, have in your numbers.
ELLSBERG is just a genuine star and on a wet track won’t bother him. He will be on speed and will be very strong late as he always is.
SUPERIUM is a quality horse and getting better with racing. Super fit now and he will be out the back before getting home swiftly between runners. Big show.
Tip: 1. SUPERIUM
Top field as it always is. FORBIDDEN LOVE was outstanding when resuming and a good finishing 2nd. She is fitter now, loves this trip and handles it wet. Big danger.
ICEBATH looks a weighted special if her very best form turns up. The extremely wet ground is a concern but her class is superior to these.
HARMONY ROSE was cantering in a recent trial and she looks back to her best. At big odds expect her to run an almighty race.
Tip: 1. ICEBATH
What a terrific race. Just looking at their last starts makes you want to get on THINK IT OVER. He has morphed into a bonafide superstar and he destroyed most of these last start over 1400m. Fitter now.
The champ, VERRY ELLEEGANT, is better 2nd upon than first-up. She also loves it wet and goes great this distance. So overlook her 7th to Think It Over when resuming. Will have more galloping room here too. Big danger.
COLETTE is a superstar. On her day she can beat all of these and the way she hit the line when 2nd to Think It Over last start says she is ready to pounce in this.
HUNGRY HEART was 4th in that Think It Over race making ground late. Is always a show in this type of race.
Fantastic race. Some superstars of the future lining up here. ESPIONA the headline act. This despite getting run down late by her low-flying star stablemate FANGIRL. Both fillies look, way, way above average. Espiona probably takes more out of her first-up run but Fangirl did give her a start and ran by her so there is a genuine rivalry here.
JAMAEA came home hard with those two top girls last start and wound up 3rd. She also should benefit and if the track favours horses coming from the back, she can cause an upset.
HINGED has loads of staying talent and may revel in the mud while others flounder and tire late.
This looks so open, probably 4 million chances. The Queen’s horse, CHALK STREAM, looks nicely placed if he is at his best. This is his first Australian start and he showed enormous talent as a stayer while racing in England, reaching stakes level. Watch the betting.
OUTLANDOS hit the line hard to win a 2400m last start at this level so is very fit and in form. Has claims.
MR GEE is up in class but he can finish a race off. Beat a weaker field easily last start so have in your numbers.
Tip: 1. CHALK STREAM
Newcastle galloper THE BOPPER always performs well when he comes to town and has Hughie steering today. Is 4th up, so super fit and was a game 2nd this grade last start.
GRAVINA resumes here but has a lot of talent and will rattle home in this.
MAOTAI could not have been more impressive leading all way and easily winning a similar race when resuming last start. Should strip even fitter here.
