Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Sandown Hillside | Wed 16th Feb

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Wednesday’s Sandown Hillside meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: Out 3m entire circuit

SHOOTOOSE had no luck when always wide at The Valley first-up and although well beaten into third it was behind a smart one. He will find this an easier assignment.

CHAIN comes into this off two sound minor placings on the provincial circuit. Third-up from spell and should be ready to find best form. Gets his chance in this.

GLEAMING LEGEND started a long odds on favourite at Stony Creek on debut but he was very green and just held ground final stages. In astute stable and expect he will be an improver.

CERRIDWYN was good on the heavy ground when placed last start and from inside gate she should enjoy all the favours. Would include in exotics.

Tip: SHOOTOOSE

LE GAGNEUR was placed in the Maribyrnong Plate on debut at Flemington then he may not have handled the clockwise way of going at Ballarat. Had a break since and will have matured.

SIR BAILEY started long odds on favourite at Pakenham on debut but he was very green and j held minor placing. Drawn ideally and he will be better from the race experience.

MAROUBRA started big odds here on debut but liked the way he got to the line with an impressive finish and grabbed second spot. Can go one better in this.

FIELD THE MOMENT is a nicely bred filly on debut. Finished second in recent jumpout and Stokes/Prebble combination must be respected.

Tip: LE GAGNEUR

OH SO FAR comes into this ready third-up from spell. Beaten less than 2 lengths at The Valley first-up then just got too far back and wide last start. She can bounce back.

HARD SQUEEZE has not been disgraced in last couple although she has been a little one paced. This no harder and she gets her chance.

CEARDAI fought the race out tenaciously and got the major prize at Mornington last start. This a step up but drawn perfectly and will get his chance at some stage.

Tip: OH SO FAR

Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott bring CASTLEREAGH KID down south after he demolished a maiden field at Gosford last start. Drawn ideally and with Oliver aboard he can win this.

ASPEN COLORADO made some late ground despite wanting to lay in a touch at Warrnambool first-up but still grabbed a minor placing. Fitter and he will be in this for a long way.

POPPY JOAN started favourite in similar race to this last start but she was poor. If forget that run her previous form would be good enough for this.

Tip: CASTLEREAGH KID

WEGOBAM worked home strongly and grabbed placing behind a smart one at Caulfield last start. Drawn to get the perfect run in behind the speed and she gets her chance.

RAPID ACHIEVER won her first two starts to begin career then just missed at Bendigo before break. If she is forward enough she is good enough to get away with this.

OUR BIRDSONG resumes from a spell. He has s super first-up record (5:2-0-1) and if he is forward enough she may just be bit too good for these.

Tip: WEGOBAM

LLOYD’S CROWN resumes from spell. He was placed in Listed company two starts back then not disgraced in Group 2 class before break. This a winnable race fresh.

PROWLING resumes. May have had enough by the time he stepped out in the Group 3 Blue Sapphire before break. If forward enough can win this.

THROW AT DA STUMPS is another fresh from a spell. He showed enough at first spell to suggest he has ability and recent trial win will have him primed for this.

Tip: LLOYD’S CROWN

UNIVERSAL LADY has been threatening to return to the winners stall. Placed here two starts back then was not beaten all that far at The Valley last start. She can win this.

Pay to forget KEV’S GIRL went around at The Valley last start when she copped plenty of trouble in the run and dropped out from the corner. Previous form solid enough for this.

MORE was there to win at the 100m at The Valley last start but run just peaked final stages. She has ideal barrier and she can bounce back in this.

Tip: UNIVERSAL LADY

MEGAMEA arguably should have won in a much better race at Caulfield last start. She was held-up at vital stage and still only just missed. Drawn ideally and she can win this.

REIGATE is the big query resuming from a spell. He was beaten less than 2 lengths in Sandown Guineas last start. Drawn ideally and big watch fresh.

POUNDING won with something in hand at Pakenham two starts back then he was not beaten all that far at Lakeside last start. He only needs to hold that form to be a factor.

Tip: MEGAMEA
