Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Caulfield | Sat 7th May

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Caulfield meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: Out 6m entire circuit

LIBERTY STEPS finished the race off strongly to win here last start. Looks to be improving with racing experience and no reason he cannot make it two in a row.

MERCHANT PRINCE has been racing in the top quality juvenile races of late and not been disgraced. Gets back in right race and from inside gate he should get his chance.

MAXIMILLIUS resumes from a spell. He was in the market at Flemington on debut but just battled final stages. Sure to be better from the outing and look for improvement.

Tip: LIBERTY STEPS

WHITE HIBISCUS can mix her form a little but she did catch the eye with a big finish at Ballarat last start. If she can find that form here she will be right in the mix.

PRINCESS RHAENYS was only getting warm when the race was all over first-up at Lakeside. Better from the outing and she gets her chance in this field.

BRAZEN SONG has been a little disappointing in three runs this time in but she is better than that and at the odds looks nice value for first four players.

Tip: WHITE HIBISCUS

SUGARTOWN is the query resuming from a spell. She won when fresh last time in work and although drawn out in the car park is sure to be competitive first-up.

EMBELLER made good late ground and got the prize here last start. Only needs to hold that form and she can make it two in a row.

THE SISTERS resumes from spell. She has won two of five first-up tries and raced consistently last time in work. Going to include her in exotics.

Tip: SUGARTOWN

SHOW SOME DECORUM is threatening to win again this prep. Won fresh then has been close up in all runs since. Drawn perfectly and he gets his chance.

GALENUS crosses Bass Strait in super form. Won two straight then just missed in small field last start. If he brings Tassie form into this he will go close.

DESTINATION comes into this ready third-up from spell. Placed fresh then made some late ground last start. Drawn ideally and expect him to run well.

Tip: SHOW SOME DECORUM

IT’SOURTIME hit the line strongly last 200m when chased home Extreme Warrior firs-up. Better from the outing and this a winnable race.

STARRY LEGEND was just too quick for them last start. Jumped to the front and dashed away late for an exciting win. If he gets own way in front he will take catching.

RANTING resumes. He has been a little frustrating in last couple of preps but no doubting his ability and from ideal barrier he should get his chance.

Tip: IT’SOURTIME

CLEMENCEAU is such an exciting sprinter winning four of five career starts. Dominant here first-up from spell and he should win again.

SQUID GAME was unlucky at Flemington first-up and should have finished much closer. If he can get a clearer passage he can finish all over these.

SCISSOR STEP won with something in hand here first-up then was placed when favourite last start. Drawn perfectly and will be in the mix again.

Tip: CLEMENCEAU

Going to have something each way on WAIRERE FALLS coming to Melbourne. Just got too far back on the heavy ground last start and battled. He can bounce back.

The crowd favourite SO SI BON comes into this third-up from a spell. Never runs a bad race and recent placing here suggests he is ready to win.

BELTORO chased home solidly when placed here last start. Placed in last couple and would not be surprised to see him in the mix again.

Tip: WAIRERE FALLS

Mick Kent/Brett Prebble combine with THE CLAIMANT in this and he looks a nice each way bet. Won maiden two starts back then placed here

ELSKLING has won two of three starts this time in most recent Cranbourne when finished too well final stages. She can measure up to city class.

ELZAMEE was beaten less than 2 lengths in the Alister Clark Stakes two starts back before failing on the heavy last start. Back in right race.

Tip: THE CLAIMANT

FLASH AAH won with something in hand at Bendigo first-up from break then he ran on solidly when placed at Flemington last start. Third-up and from ideal barrier he can win this.

MILFORD finished the race off solidly and got the prize here last stride to win the Easter Cup. Drawn perfectly and no reason he cannot win again.

ACCOUNTABILITY is enormous odds in this. Hard to recommend on what he has shown in two runs back but he has ability and can sneak a minor spot.

Tip: FLASH AAH
