Horse Racing Tips & Previews – Ascot | Sat 9th April

Form analyst, SCOTT MCDONELL, previews Saturday’s Ascot meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 9 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Good 4

Rail Position: True entire circuit

ACROMANTULA jumped to the front and gave nothing else a chance here last start. Drawn to drive through and lead again and he looks the one to beat.

STATE ATTORNEY made good late ground winning here first-up from spell. He strips fitter second-up from spell and will be in finish again.

EXPRESS TIME found the front and looked home here last start but she just found one better final stages. Never runs a bad race and she goes in exotics.

SNIPAROOCHY did not have all that much luck here first-up when covered plenty of extra ground. She still finished the race off soundly and grabbed placing. Drawn perfectly and can win this.

DUNBAR resumes from spell. He can produce a run fresh (3:1-1-0) and from ideal barrier should get all the favours. Smart gelding who can measure up to these.

SPEED DREAM tracked wide here first-up but he just kept coming and was not beaten all that far. Should get much better run second-up and he is ready to win.

SWEAR TO GOD sprinted clear for softest of wins here on debut. He looks a smart colt and despite wide gate he can make it two from two.

POT SHOT comes into this ready third-up from a spell. Placed here behind Swear To God last start and from inside gate she should be right in the mix again.

NUNES chased home strongly when placed in the same race as top two. She will give them a start but watch for her to be hitting the line strongly.

PREMIUM CHOICE won with something in hand at Esperance first-up from spell then followed up with a couple of sound placings. Racing well enough to get away with this.

POINT TAKEN looked like she needed the run first-up from break when she just battled final stages. She will be better from the outing and at odds may surprise these.

KELVIN looks the likely speed in this. If he can get a soft lead and control this race to the corner he may take some catching final stages.

HARMIKA raced up on the speed and proved too strong here two starts back then she should have won last start when out too late. She can return to winners stall.

GUARD THE SAFE showed good speed to lead them up here last start. Just started to feel the pinch last 200m and was overran final stages. He will be prominent for a long way.

FEATHERWEIGHT powered away and was dominant winning here last start. He looks smart and from inside gate he should get perfect run and go close again.

COMES A TIME drove clear and won with something in hand here last start and that made it two in a row. Drawn ideally and can make it three straight.

SENTIMENTAL QUEEN finished the race off from the back to win here last start. Drawn to get the perfect run in transit and only needs some luck from the corner.

SON OF BACCHUS has been mixing his form but comes off a solid last start placing and would not leave out of chances.

15:55 (local time)

BLACK CHIPS is screaming out for another win. Placed in all four starts leading into this and although drawn a touch wide happy to have something each way.

MELARAB has just been battling in three runs back from spell but this looks a nice race for him and at the odds happy to throw in exotics.

CHUCK A LUCK gave them a galloping lesson here last start winning by a big space. Only needs to produce similar and he can win this.

Hard not to be impressed with the win of ALASKAN GOD in the Melvista. Meets most of the same horses again and no reason he will not be as dominant.

TRIX OF THE TRADE chased home bravely behind Alaskan God in the Melvista. He does meet him better at the weights and expect he will get very close.

LADY CHANT is the only filly to take on the boys in the Derby this season but she won the W.A. Oaks as a maiden last start and looked a promising stayer. She will be competitive against the boys.

HENCHARD looks the likely speed from inside gate. If he can settle and control this race through the first half he may give them something to chase.

TRADE WAR is screaming out to return to the winners stall. He won fresh and since then has raced in consistent fashion but just finding one better. Drawn ideally and looks well placed.

BIG BADA BOOM powered home to win here two starts back then lost chance at the start last outing. If he can improve racing manners he can figure in this.

HOLY GHOST was beaten less than a length here last start. He has not been all that far in any of his recent starts and from inside gate must include in winning chances.
