T: Chris Waller /J: Craig Williams (56.5kg)
Star mare, very special on her day and although she went through a bad patch there not running on, last start winning at Gr 1 level suggests the bad days are gone. May win this easily.
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace/ J: John Allen (56.5kg)
Outstanding in form Gr 1 placed and last start Gr 2 winner. Came with a surging, impressive burst to win in the mud at Randwick this trip. Is very fit and will be rattling home.
T: Phillip Stokes/ J: Dan Moor (56.5kg)
Very good mare who came from near last to brilliantly win this race last year. Strangely hasn’t won a race in 6 attempts since but her 2nd last start to Bella Vella here when beaten a head says she is back and ready to defend her crown.
4. BELLA VELLA (7) x139x030x1
T: Will Clarken / J: Kayla Crowther (56.5kg)
Star South Aussie mare who always puts in. Returned to racing after a year off last start and courageously led and held out, albeit narrowly, the smart Instant Celebrity. Big danger.
T: Jason warren & Dean Krongold / J: Jamie Kah (56.5kg)
Copped a chequered passage down the running yet still flashed home to grab 5th in this race last year. Always seems to find bother but one day she will get a clear run at them and win something like this. Has the ability to do it. Place.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Linda Meech (56.5kg)
Interesting galloper. Form among strong races was very consistent placing pretty much every time until she found a terribly heavy track and was 7th in the Gr 1 Galaxy. Better suited here on many levels and should improve to be right in this.
T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Ethan Brown (56.5kg)
Looks a quality sprinter in the making. After winning by leading throughout a Gr 3 race this trip at Randwick against the girls, stepped up to the Gr 1 Newmarket and came down the slow side of the track finishing 15th. Forget she went around that day. Should be on speed all the way here at big odds.
T: Team Jolly/ J: Jake Toeroek (56.5kg)
Very speedy locally trained mare. In fact this is her home track. Probably goes out and leads these and is very fit. Has won 3 of past 4 starts. Is she up to Gr 1 level, we shall find out but generally this race allows one local to run out of their skin against the visiting stars. This mare could be that one.
T: Archie Alexander/ J: Declan Bates (56.5kg)
Good honest tough mare who can finish hard on her day. Gets back but has power late. Place though.
T: Shane Nichols/ J: Joe Bowditch (56.5kg)
Good mare but this is too short and too strong for her. Hasn’t raced for several months.
T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas /J: Jess Eaton (56.5kg)
Nice locally trained mare who has finishing power which she has shown by storming home at past two starts. But…they were in handicap races which are weaker than this.
T: David Jolly/ J: Lachie Neindorf (56.5kg)
Has talent. Probably gets back from this gate and should run on. But the set weights scale is against her.
T: Team Freedman/ J: Mark Zahra (55kg)
Lightly raced filly who has been freshened following her outstanding 2nd over a mile in Gr 2 Kewney. Ran fast time to win this trip at Gr 3 level in Feb. Will be near last with 400m to travel but can fly late. Have in your numbers.
T: James Cummings/ J: Damien Oliver (55kg)
Has talent and will win races, and at stakes level. Got back and ran on when 5th last start here to Champagne Dreams. That was a couple of lengths weaker than this so may struggle.
T: Wayne Francis & Glen Kent/ J: Paul Gatt (55kg)
This is a very handy filly and one on the improve every start. Led all the way to win Listed Redelva last start at this track over 1100m in fast time. Harder here but that improvement curve she is on will help. Plus, has drawn perfectly.
