T: Kerry Parker /J: Nash Rawiller (59kg)
So honest and such a quality stayer. Is just brilliant at this trip and he has won $4.7m in prize money. Has won 7 races at this track and 5 races at this distance. Doesn’t like it heavy, however.
T: Annabel Neasham / J: Jamie Kah (59kg)
Brilliant form of late. Has won in the wet and loves this trip. Has not raced on a Heavy and his best form is in Brisbane and Melbourne. This class is a step up for him. Has pocketed $6.3m for his connections however and looks back to his best if his demolition of the All-Star Mile field is anything to go on.
T: Mick Price & Michael Kent / J: Mark Zahra (59kg)
Looked home in the Gr 1 Doncaster Mile last start before being run down late. Superb effort and it followed a strong 2nd to Zaaki in the All-Star Mile. Never raced at this trip but has got good heavy track form. Has won just over $6m.
T: Team Hawkes / J: Willy Pike (59kg)
Is strong in the mud but that’s been against weaker grade. Up to WFA here he will struggle with this calibre of athlete.
T: Leon McDonald & Andrew Gluyas / J: Chad Schofield (59kg)
Comes into this with strong recent runs without winning. Has earned $3.3m for his connections and was 3rd this race last year. Strong 5th in the Doncaster Mile last start. Always a place show.
T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (57kg)
Champion racehorse and she loves it wet. She is in form having won the Gr 1 Chipping Norton and then was runner-up at Gr 1 to Montefilia last start. This race suits Melbourne Cup winners and she has earned $14.7m thus far. Must be considered.
T: Ed Cummings/ J: Josh Parr (57kg)
Must be considered. Is the new star on the scene easily and brilliantly winning her past two both at Gr 1 level. Has won $2.7m thus far and will appreciate this. Has no bog track form but smashed rivals to win the Gr 1 WFA Tancred 2400m last start and that takes a strong horse. Will be rattling home. Big chance.
T: David Payne / J: Hugh Bowman (57kg)
Shocked everyone easily beating Verry Elleegant at WFA this trip last start and should be a lot fitter now. Did receive a gun ride but she is a multiple Gr 1 winner of $2.3m and loves this distance. Likes the mud too so is a massive player in this.
T: James Cummings / J: Tommy Berry (55.5kg)
Is the youngest horse in the field but is he the best? We know he is the Champion 3YO of his cohort and he should have won the Cox Plate last year also. Thus far has earned $4.8m and the way he destroyed his rivals to win the Gr 1 Rosehill Guineas this journey last start says he is the one to beat here. Especially as it was on a heavy 9.
