Horse Racing Tips – Group 1 Newmarket Hcp

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Flemington Newmarket Hcp with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps on this track and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. MASKED CRUSADER (13) 25X15126x5

T: Team Hawkes  /J: Jye McNeil (57kg)

Is a superstar sprinter. Has a one and one head to head record with Home Affairs and in this race meets him better at the weights for being beaten 5 lengths by him last start. Has a great 2nd up record and will be absolutely charging home late.

2. HOME AFFAIRS (16) 2138x191x1

T: Chris Waller / J: James McDonald (56kg)

Is so honest and so consistent and so tough. And is considered the next very big thing in world sprinting. Up on speed when resuming and after being headed by Nature Strip came back to win the traditional lead-up to the the Gr 1 Lightning. Different weight scale and tempo here but he is unbeaten in two Gr 1 races at this track. Bound to be right there at the finish.

3. LOST AND RUNNING  (9) 11x84421x1

T: John O’Shea / J: Hugh Bowman (56kg)

Superstar in the making. Won with contemptuous ease in a Gr 3 under 61kg when resuming last start and ran fast time, particularly over the final 200m. Looks back better than ever and has beaten Home Affairs at their only encounter. Comes into this race a major threat.

4. ZOUTORI (1) 140x4240x0

T: Mat Ellerton/ J:  Damian lane  (55.5kg)

Has been a player at this level and especially this track for a few years but this may be beyond him this year. is 2nd up after being safely held last start in the Oakleigh Plate.

5. COUNT DE RUPEE (7) 2183x1321x

T: Team Price / J: Brock Ryan (54kg)

This is a lightly raced star racehorse who resumes here and is at this level for the first time too. Saying that, he boasts an imposing 1200m record and you must think this track will suit. Tends to get back but has a powerful finish.

6. LEVANTE (10) 31514×1211

T: Team Kelso / J:Michael Dee (53.5kg)

Would it be a surprise if this Kiwi mare won? Probably but she is a Gr 1 winner at her past two starts including NZ’s top sprint The Telegraph in astonishing time. Comes here in terrific form and should be kept safe.

7. HALVORSEN (11) 702980×131

T: Robbie Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Dean Holland (52.5kg)

This bloke grows a leg at this track and on that score alone has claims. He won brilliantly over 1000m here on Melbourne Cup day coming home like a train from a mile back and did similar here in the Gr 3 Standish last start in very fast time. Keep safe.

8. OXLEY ROAD (15) 14x2316x23

T: Peter Moody / J: Blaike McDougall (52.5kg)

Lightly raced but gifted sprinter. Is fast and is very honest. Two starts this time up have been excellent, running 2nd in the 1100m Gr 2 Rubiton then running home hard to get 3rd behind the unbeaten superstar Marabi in the Gr 1 Oakleigh Plate. Only start here this trip wilted late last year but appears a better horse now.

9. POLAND (14) 0x153x80x5

T: Mike Moroney / J: Michael Poy (52.5kg)

Made ground late when good 5th to Marabi in the Gr 1 last start but this is just as hard. Is fitter now.

10. QUANTICO (12) 11x0x4111x

T: John O’Shea /J: Kerrin McEvoy (52.5kg)

Interesting horse. Is extremely gifted and has run some amazing times at this trip. Resumes here and does have good first-up stats. Never race at this level but was showing extreme talent in restricted grade last prep. Watch market.

11. ROCH’N’HORSE  (3) 92201×4272

T: Mike Moroney /J: Patrick Moloney (52.5kg)

Fast Kiwi mare who has placed at Gr 1 level. Stepping up in class here.

12. SEPTEMBER RUN (8) 048x37664x

T: Chris Waller/ J: Jamie Kah (52.5kg)

This time last year had such a boom on her as she looked like being a superstar sprinter. Has won $1.4million so is hardly a failure but has been disappointing. Resumes here and did win a trial in Sydney impressively recently.

13. SNAPDANCER (17) x11339x211

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Harry Coffey (52.5kg)

Class galloper who may sneak under everyone’s guard here. Is in career-best form and last start went to Sydney where she led all the way against hercown sex in fast time to claim the Gr 3 Triscay this trip. Is extremely;y good at this trip and deserves a crack at this level.

14. SWATS THAT (6) 358x8053x4

T: Team Corstens /J: Craig Williams (52.5kg)

Interesting horse. Hasn’t won at this track in 7 starts but has run some mighty Gr 1 races. Loomed to win the Gr 1 Lightning last start when resuming but faded late when 4th. Expect her with this weight pull to be rearward but right there at the end. Does run on well.

15. THE ASTROLOGIST  (4) 5411313×37

T: Team Corstens /J: Fred Kersley (52.5kg)

Good solid sprinter who goes very well this trip. Up to Gr 1 last start when well beaten in the Lightning. May struggle.

16. ARTORIUS (2) 16x22433x6

T: Team Freedman / J: Craig Newitt (51kg)

is pretty brilliant when his mind is on the job. Is only young but if he turned up and ran to his best, with this week he could do damage.

17. FINANCE TYCOON (5) x1641x6x31

T: Danny O’Brien / J: Josh Richards (50.5kg)

Has a lot of speed and led all the way to win the Gr 3 Zeditave in fast time last start. Is up in class here but by no means is the roughest with this weight.
