Horse racing Tips – Group 1 Coolmore Classic

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s Group 1  Rosehill Coolmore Classic with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps on this very heavy track and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. KRONE (3) 301117×554

T: Tony Gollan /J: Chad Schofield (58kg)

Won this race last year but doesn’t seem to be the same mare this year. Had every hope and only plodded home for 4th in a lead-up race and gives away a lot of weight to some really smart ones.

2. POLLY GREY (1) 1195x013x2

T: Chris Waller / J: Brenton Avdulla (56.5kg)

tough mare who ran her heart out last start with big weight and 2nd. Should strip fitter now, loves the mud and can be in this. Is trained here.

3. VANGELIC  (17) 45x41053x3

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)

Great first-up effort when 3rd. has pace and may well lead all these although Expat and Shout The Bar like to go forward too. Has to run hard early because of the draw and that may bring her undone in the final 100m.

4. LIGHTHOUSE (6) 55×1111222

T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace / J: Jason Collett  (56kg)

Brilliant mare and looks one of the main chances. Won through the grades winning 4 on the bounce then past three have been great efforts for runner-up runs in stakes races, latest at Gr 1. Loves the mud, is very fit and looms large.

5. SHOUT THE BAR (15) Scratched

T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Regan Bayliss (56kg)

Out

6. EXPAT (10) 4311Dx1911

T: Mark Newnham / J: Tom Sherry (54kg)

Interesting galloper. She is very smart and very fast. What has happened in past weeks she has led all way to win three of past four but she has been left alone in the lead. In this, a couple of others will go hard and make her work which may be her undoing late. If not though, she has great ability and can keep going.

7. WANDABAA (7) 24x0420x71

T: Kris Lees / J: Tommy Berry (53.5kg)

Outstanding mare on her day. Gets back and doesn’t always run on but when she does she is a force. Did that last start in a stakes race and will get a great run behind all the speed. Has claims.

8. HINGED (12) 2111026×71

T: Chris Waller / J: Willy Pike (52.5kg)

In what was just a massive performance last start she brilliantly ploughed through the mud to win the Gr 1 Surround stakes against her age. That was 2nd up. On home track here and should be flashing home.

9. ATISHU (9) 1x141600x6

T: Chris Waller / J: Kathy O’Hara (52kg)

Needed the run first-up when a battling 6th. is on home track here and more than capable when right. If fit enough today so can run on.

10. Le lude (14) scratched

T: –

Out.

11. MIRRA VISION (16) 4141216×56

T: Team Snowden /J: Sam Clipperton (51.5kg)

Very smart at stakes level over this trip last campaign. But two starts this time up she has missed a place and this may test.

12. PROMISE OF SUCCESS (13) 132x121x22

T: John O’Shea / J: Rachel King (51kg)

Is just a really good, honest try all day mare. Gets back but has finishing power and likes it wet too. Is third up here after a great pair of runs in Group races. Will be dashing at them all late.

13. Kiku (11) Scratched

T: –

Out.

14. YES BABY YES (2) 016x0x46x3

T: Team Corstens / J:  Tyler Schiller  (51kg)

Strong handicap mare but Gr 1 will find her out.

15. ESPIONA (4) 11×23

T: Chris Waller / J: Jay Ford (50kg)

Might be a superstar and gets chance here for first real Gr 1 glory. Two starts since resuming have been strong and have her now cherry ripe. With this weight she can settle right back in the field and just come home with astonishing speed. Looks the one to beat here on her home track.

16. Fangirl (5) Scratched

T: –

Out.

17. CAP ESTEL (8) 26326×3121

T: Anthony Cummings / J: Quayde Krogh (50kg)

Very fast and likes it wet. Probably will let the other speedsters go but is on the rise. Up in class. Great opportunity for her bush jock who is having his debut Gr 1 ride.
