Is just a genuinely impressive horse. Is fast and can stay. Has already won twice at Gr 1 level, and looks to be the best talent in this race. Is 2nd up but has proven in the past he can go from a mile to 2400m without blinking an eye. Big danger.
T: James Cummings / J: Hugh Bowman (56.5kg)
Is 3rd up here following two below par runs this time up. Only hope is he finds hi best this trip and his best is good. Was runner-up to Hitotsu in the Gr 1 VRC Derby last November. Place.
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: Mark Zahra (56.5kg)
Was 5th in the Gr 1 VRC Derby last year and his 3 runs this time up have been very solid and have laid the platform for a great run here. Good 3rd last start to Anamoe in the Gr 1 Rosehill Guineas. Can win this.
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Nash Rawiller (56.5kg)
Likes to lead and is very fit. If they leave him alone in front he will take catching. This is his home track and he did win 3 in a row prior to poor run last start. Can bounce back.
T: Murray Baker & Andy Forsman / J: James McDonald (56.5kg)
Outstanding run last start when 2nd over 1850m coming from a mile back behind Character. Loves this trip more and is a NZ Derby placegetter. Will be rocketing home. Big chance.
T: Murray Baker & Andy Forsman/ J: Robbie Dolan (56.5kg)
Interesting galloper. Got onto the wrong part of the track at Aussie debut last start and plodded home for 7th in crucial 1850m lead up race. Is better than that.
T: Bjorn Baker / J: Damian Lane (56.5kg)
Must be considered. Is very tough and can handle this. Sits on the speed and last start was a game 3rd in the Gr 2 Alister Clark Stakes over 2040m. Made a lot of ground late that night.
T: James Cummings / J: Tommy Berry (56.5kg)
This is a smart racehorse. And the timing of his prep has been outstanding culminating in a runaway win over 1850m last start in the Gr 2 Tulloch Stakes beating many of these. Looms large.
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J: Jamie Kah (56.5kg)
This bloke has talent and will be running on. His prep has been managed beautifully as well. His hard finishing 2nd in the 2040m Alister Clark at Gr 2 level suggested he is ready for this. Good chance.
T: Bjorn Baker / J: Josh Parr (56.5kg)
Solid galloper, more than handy and will win a Group race one day. Made up ground when 3rd in very fast time in the recent Albury Cup over 2000m. Can he run a strong 2400m? He is honest so maybe.
T: David Payne /J: Craig Williams (56.5kg)
Is a good, strong horse but just may be a length out so shy of the top guys at this stage. Was a nice 6th when on pace in the Gr 1 Randwick Guineas and can handle the mud. Place show.
T: Ciaron Maher & Dave Eustace / J: Chad Schofield (56.5kg)
Victorian with obvious talents and likes to get back and then run on. So the trip will suit. Class may test. Did finish well for 4th to Prix de Turn in the recent 2040m Alister Clark Stakes. Two that beat him home are in this.
T: Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott / J: Tim Clark (56.5kg)
Has won two restricted class races in the wet but this grade and trip will test.
T: Gary Portelli / J: Shaun Guymer (56.5kg)
Should develop into a useful stayer in time but just lacks dash at this level at this stage of his career. So not keen here.
T: John O’Shea/ J: Brenton Avdulla (56.5kg)
Is very fit, and runs home hard. Gives the impression this trip will suit a great deal. Had flashing red lights on when flying home for 4th to Character last start in the 1850m Gr 2. Has claims.
T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: Willy Pike (56.5kg)
Is bred to stay and revelled in the mud to easily win a lowly BM 64 at Ballarat last start over 2000m. This is a big step up in class though.
T: Bjorn Baker / J: Rachel King (56.5kg)
Has excellent wet track form but in restricted grade. Did win a 2300m last start in the mud but this is many lengths harder.
