Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Saturday’s Gosford meeting with horse racing tips and analysis for all 10 races on the card. Good luck, punters!
Track Condition: Heavy 8
Rail Position: True, entire circuit
RESONATOR resumed from a spell, yes in an easier race, but led and just kept kicking to win well. Looks in great shape and better this time up. Big show.
LONDON was scratched from midweek for this. Resumes in here and that’s always a good sign.
ZOU TIGER is a maiden but his 2nd when on debut chasing a smart one home suggests he is up to this. And should have improved also.
BOOM BOOM BASIL has the speed to overcome this horror draw. Ran a superb race at this level when resuming last start and has to be two lengths faster now.
TWO YA GOT is lightly raced but is showing good talent. Three excellent runs before solid 5th last start in the Albury Guineas. Bound to find great spot and charge late.
EASY ROSIE is a talented 3YO filly. And she seems to be getting better with racing. Led and won well when resuming at Canberra. Well in at the weights and looks a big show.
Tip: BOOM BOOM BASIL
It will be very interesting to see how much improvement OXFORD TYCOON took from his first-up 6th. Gets a 3kg weight relief and last campaign ran a cracking race to finish 2nd when 2nd up so expect a bold showing.
TWO UP deserves a win. He is racing lights out – but without winning, just failing this campaign. Actually, true stats, he has placed at this level 6 of past 7 starts. Led last start and beaten a lip.
IMPULSE CONTROL has drawn impeccably and is super sharp and fit right now. Gets the added benefit of a 2kg claim and did win a similar race. Two starts back. Big show.
Tip: IMPULSE CONTROL
Expect a bold showing by CAPITAL REIGN here. Recent form has been poor, weakening out over the last 200m but is down in grade here and gets a great helping hand with a 2kg claim. Can lead these all the way.
It’s hard to ignore the consistency of NEVER SECOND. Just competed every run last prep. Resumes here but boasts some really solid form while fresh and gets a 3kg claim to help. Big danger.
SIEGE seems a nice horse. She has raced just 3 times for 2 wins and a placing but her last start win was outstanding and looks Saturday grade. Resumes here so watch betting.
Tip: CAPITAL REIGN
OUR CANDIDATE is getting down in the weights while at the same time getting that little bit fitter every run. Will be big odds here but just might run home strongly in this.
MILITARY MISSION is a climber, getting better with racing and climbing up the ranks. Looks the one to beat.
HAMERON is lightly raced but showing good staying potential and down in the weights here. Has claims. Plenty of money for him. If he turns up to race, he can win.
Tip: MILITARY MISSION
SOLAR APEX will be overlooked by many but he really is strong first-up and he resumes here with a 1.5kg claim also. Have in your numbers.
ELUSIVE JEWEL is on the improve and is 3rd up. Both runs this time up have been full of merit and is a trier. Has strong claims.
DIAMIL is good enough to win this. Disappointing 5th last start though but previous form was outstanding. Should improve. Dual acceptor also. Super fit and rates highly.
I think if this import NUMERIAN who is now trained by Annabel Neasham can run up to his best form, or even his last start when flashing home for 2nd to Polly Grey, he wins this. Simple as that.
GREAT HOUSE is a tough as old boots campaigner who always runs well at this level. Suited here.
PAPPALINO has staying talent and he is 2nd up into this. Great 4th last start but did finish behind numeric. Place show.
This is a test for SHELBY SIXTYSIX. He has been up a very long time and done some Herculian things among his many runs, but doesn’t seem the same horse on a dry track. Today he returns to a wet track so it may help him improve on his well beaten 7th in Melbourne last start on a fast track.
What GRAVINA has going for him is his consistency. Is very fit, runs well this grade and is going to run on late.
PRIME CANDIDATE is fast and being first-up he should run very boldly from the front.
This is easier than his last start when he led all the way but OUR PLAYBOY has a big weight and a couple of others who like to press forward. He is pretty tough though and will be right there bobbing away at the end.
KIKU is a good mare. She is tough and always rattles home. Drawn to receive a lovely run on the fence in about 6th to the bend. When they fan looking for better ground she will have room to finish it off.
RUSTIC STEEL is just too well weighted to leave out. On his day he has a powerful finishing burst and with no weight should produce that today.
Tip: RUSTIC STEEL
RAINBOW CONNECTION is very smart. Resumes here and gets a 2kg allowance to help also. Perfectly drawn so should run boldly.
FRANCESCO GUARDI is talented. may find this a tad short but will be rattling home.
BATTLETON like the above pair, is resuming here but shows enough last prep to suggest he is a horse going places.
