Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews today’s Wagga Wagga and Dubbo meetings, with horse racing tips and analysis for 3 races. Good luck, punters!
I do think after examining this field that there are only 3 hopes. And in preferential order they are: TAVIFERN from TILLMAN and SLEIGH’S BELLE. All three are up to the challenge. Tillman probably would have gotten the nod if it was 1400m but there is a question mark about him running a strong mile on a heavy track. So the pedigree and toughness of Tavifern kicks in. He was strong when 3rd to Prompt Prodigy this trip last start and that horse would win this easily. Tavifern, is trained by Matt Dale, and will be ridden by in form hoop Billy Owen. Should be a great race to watch and I’ll trifecta my thoughts up here.
Interesting race. There are two with claims, one in particular who looks to have a future in this sport. His name is CELLAR CHAMP and I think he will charge through his grades. Starting with today. It will be his 3rd race start and I think he’s worth having a good go at. Ran 2nd last start in this grade and is much fitter now. More significant to that is the fact he is racing on his home track this afternoon. The other one with claims is the filly up from Wangaratta named FLYING GEM. She looks likely to get back and run on hard too. Quinella them up. I think from out wide the fav AVVERTIMENTO will go hard early, be wide and get tired.
Tip: CELLAR CHAMP
It’s a far cry, almost unimaginable actually to come from the long steep hill track at Newmarket in England to run at Dubbo, but SIBAAQ is doing it today. He ran 1:39 for a mile at Newmarket which is handy as that final 400m up hill is tortuous. His only Aussie start was a 2nd at the Gold Coast over 1400m. Might just be a few panels better than these. The pace will be hard all the way and he can finish this off.
