Horse racing Tips – Canterbury Park | Wed 20th Apr

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, previews Wednesday’s Canterbury meeting, with horse racing tips and analysis for all 8 races. Good luck, punters!

Track Condition: Heavy 9

Rail Position: Out 6m entire

What a tough race.  MONFIDICIA may need longer but gee she attacked the line under restraint in a recent trial when 4th. Hasn’t raced yet but watch for market moves as she might have talent.

SWEET BABY BOOM has the form on the board having raced twice in the mud already and on both occasions showed speed and kept fighting finishing 3rd each time. This might be easier and if the track has dried a bit she could just skip right away.Respect her.

WRITROSE was 4th after a checkered passage at Muswellbrook on debut. This may not be much harder and the run will bring her on.

You sense they will go out very quickly in this. RESONATOR has not raced since his debut 8th to Sejardan in the Breeders’ Plate. Has trialled and run well both times so expect a forward showing today.

VANCOUVER’S CROWN has shown nothing in races but trials well. Gives the impression he wants this longer trip because he has talent.

There should be money for HYDE who absolutely steamrolled his rivals in a trial win. Only race start was a 5th in Dec at Warwick Farm. Watch to see if the money goes on.

This must be so annoying for connections watching STORMY LEGEND go around. He has raced well and run into 2nd spot at his past 4 starts in a row – all in this grade. is obviously good enough and let’s hope for their sake today is the day.

WHATAFOX is peaking for this. Has loads of talent and is 3rd up here after two solid runs. Big danger.

KENEALLY has been steadily improving each start, good 2nd last start in the mud at Newcastle for instance. If she has come on she rates very highly.

Pretty handy field this. I think ACHIRA has a show but she is rather hot and cold. The 2kg claim for Reece Jones helps. And is very fit.

VITTORIOSA is fast and now fully wound up. Has run 4th in this grade at past two starts but is a couple of lengths stronger now.

SMIRK is lightly raced but showing promise. Needed the outing last start when a solid 2nd. Jay Mac rides and is much fitter now. Respect.

Good betting race. BARRICHELLO is a pretty honest campaigner. He just puts in every start and his win last time out just underlined that. Is well up to this and the 2kg claim for Reece Jones is perfect.

Up in weight and class but THIS’LLBETHEONE looks more than handy. Game 4th when resuming last start and should be fitter now. Must be considered.

CHATEAUX PARK was handled easily when resuming but with that poor run out of the way expect him to return to his usual always honest performance.

This may be an odd thing to say, given his form reads poorly, but I kinda think CLYDE may run a big race here. It does seem to be his pet trip and he is down in grade. He is also very fit.

MAIN STAGE is yet another one of those really genuine, try all race types and he will give your money a good run from this great gate.

HAMERON has started just twice – both times in Victoria and the way he won his maiden on a heavy track says he is a strong player here. Big show.

Great to see the smart BROKEN HILL back at the races. He resumes here and he was an impressive 2nd in a recent trial. Has speed so sits on the pace and was showing stakes-like talent when last in work.

RUBINOCCHI can spoil the party though. She is fast, loves it wet and she has performed very well in better grade. Has a good first-up record and resumes in. Big danger.

Will the inside gate at this stage of the day on a wet track hinder RAPID RESPONSE? That’s the question. Does have talent and showed it last start beating subsequent city placegetter Marooniyah last start. Watch betting.

There are 8 scratchings leaving just 6 runners. Perfect day to race and they withdraw all these horses. Gee trainers are annoying at times. THE ART OF FLYING is on the march as a racehorse and this will be a good test for him. Looks well placed.

OXFORD TYCOON still has a big weight after the 3kg claim but he is a Saturday horse normally so should run boldly and KA BLING has enough talent despite being first-up here, to make presence felt.
