Horse Racing Tips – All Star Mile

Form analyst, RIC CHAPMAN, looks at every runner in Saturday’s big  Flemington All Star Mile with horse racing tips for the first four. Read on to see how he maps on this very heavy track and assesses the race. Good luck, punters!

1. I’M THUNDERSTRUCK (1) 1311311×55

T: Mick Price & Michael Kent /J: Jye McNeil (56.5kg)

Brilliant galloper especially over this journey and he appears in this 3rd up. Won the Gr 1 Toorak this trip, then the $7million Golden Eagle before spell. Both starts have been handy this time up, latest when 5th to Sierra Sue over 1400m in Gr 1 Futurity. Better placed here.

2. ZAAKI (15) 111x1131x2

T: Annabel Neasham / J: Jamie Kah (56.5kg)

Outstanding middle distance horse who was great when run down late by Inspirational Girl last start when resuming. That was in the Gr 2 Blamey and he meets her 4kg better for losing by a head. Big chance.

3. CASCADIAN  (6) 545432×315

T: James Cummings/ J: Damien Oliver (56.5kg)

Always a threat in every event he runs in. This is his pet trip having won at Gr 1 level this journey. Ran on OK when 5th in the Australian Cup last week over 2000m. Is extremely fit.

4. STREETS OF AVALON (3) 2875483×56

T: Shane Nichols / J: Zac Spain  (56.5kg)

Very smart Victorian who should strip super fit here. Has had two solid runs in the top grade since resuming and right on the placegetters each time. May be a thorn for some if allowed to lead uncontested.

5. LUNAR FOX (14) 40x9560x09

T: Paul Preusker/ J: Craig Newitt (56.5kg)

Is a Gr 1 winner at this trip but was 150 to 1 that day and not done much since. Ran 4th this race last year.

6. KING MAGNUS (5) 1224521×76

T: Robbie Griffiths & Mat de Kock / J: Lachie King (56.5kg)

Interesting galloper. Is handy and this is hit pet trip but may be a length or so behind the better ones.

7. CALLSIGN MAV (10) 223x117x28

T: Danny O’Brien / J: Ben Allen (56.5kg)

Should run well. Had a hard trip in the Australian Cup over 2000m when 2nd up last week and faded late. Is super fit now, on the quick back-up and at big odds will give you a good sight.

8. MR BRIGHTSIDE (2) 111111×34

T: Team Hayes / J: Craig Williams (56.5kg)

This bloke can run a really strong mile and he is ready to. Strangely led last start in the Blamey and was a brave 4th to Inspirational Girl. Has place claims in this.

9. ICEBATH (9) x354912x64

T: Brad Widdup / J: Fred Kersley (56.5kg)

Doesn’t win many but always runs bravely. Gets back and tends to dash late. This track will suit. Has a Gr 1 placing this trip and track to her name. Is 3rd up here and rates highly.

10. TOFANE (7) 11x3427x13

T: Michael Moroney /J: Jamie Mott (56.5kg)

Outstanding mare. Is in great form and this looks ideal. Will no doubt be on pace although there are a few leaders in this. She doesn’t have to lead and will kick on the bend. Is very smart.

11. SIERRA SUE (13) 4117100×41

T: Trent Busuttin & Nat Young / J: John Allen (56.5kg)

This mare is the dark horse. She has enough talent to win this if she wants to. Doesn’t always race genuinely but did win impressively a great lead-up last start so is in form and fit enough. Big show.

12. INSPIRATIONAL GIRL (4) 31112x5x61

T: Danny O’Brien / J: Damian Lane (56.5kg)

Brilliant mare who stormed home to beat Zaaki on the wire last in the Gr 2 Blamey over this trip. Was 2nd up that day. Does meet him 4kg worse off but has finishing power.

13. CAPTIVANT (11) x36728x636

T: Team Snowden/ J: Pat Moloney (56.5kg)

Smart colt who is already a Gr 1 performer when 2nd in the Caulfield Guineas this trip but doesn’t seem to ever win. Runs on, but that may be against him in this.

14. LIGHTSABER (12) 9x6414x402

T: Peter Moody/ J: Luke Nolen  (56.5kg)

Very smart Victorian on his day and does tend to mix his form but if you go on his solid 2nd in a Gr 1  race last start here in fast time, he rates a show here. Probably only a place show though.

15. PINSTRIPED (8) 1×115

T: Enver Jusufovic/ J: Michael Dee (56.5kg)

Big danger. Just gets better every start and if he secures a good run throughout, his raw natural talent will get him into this finish. Respect him.
