Panthers v Bulldogs: NRL Round 13

There’s some big changes for the Panthers with their NSW Cup halves pairing called up, as well missing To’o and Crichton out wide, and Yeo and Martin in the middle. But the Panthers have so much depth that their team still looks pretty strong. Playing at home against a woeful Bulldogs outfit, they are still 10-point favourites.

The uncertainty here comes from whether the Panthers can maintain their attacking cohesion without the key link role played by Ye’o, Cleary and Luai. It is not clear how the Panthers edge runners are going to connect with the new halves pairing of Sullivan and Falls.

While the Bulldogs still have Burton and Addo-Carr (after his surprise omission from Origin), I think the Panthers still have a stronger team here.

The Bulldogs are looking to replace Dufty according to media reports, with Corey Allen given a shot. I do not mind the move. While Dufty still racks up decent attacking numbers, he certainly looks out of sorts in defence and not a happy camper.

I also think that some of the team selections Interim Coach Potter is making do not make sense. Topine has been great in NSW Cup this year, but somehow cannot crack it into the first-grade team, along with a few other fringe players that should be getting blooded now that the 2022 season is practically ruined.

At home and with some key forwards still lining up (along with Api and Edwards), then Panthers should still be good enough to cover the line.

Predicted score: Panthers vs Bulldogs

Bulldogs 12
